A Mumbai home design inspired by Rainforest

Pentaspace Design Studio is a full-service design firm based in Mumbai. It is led by Gaurav Sanghavi, Harsh Pote, Pragya Sanghvi, and Bhakti Pote. The firm specialises in comprehensive project management, covering everything from planning and visualisation to interior design and styling for diverse Indian projects.

The site’s challenging terrain, characterised by steep slopes ranging from 0 to 13 m and dense rainforest trees, inspired the project’s concept, “Rainforest.” The team’s primary objective was to preserve as many trees as possible while maximising panoramic views for the 11 residential towers. This was achieved by designing a staggered building layout that considered the site’s undulating landscape, offering stunning views of the Powai Lake and the Aarey Colony no-development zone. The design minimised tree relocation and established a low-disturbance axis harmonising with the environment.

Drawing inspiration from lush rainforests, the area became a themed residential paradise. All 11 project towers incorporate foliage as the central design element, mirroring the elegant forms of tree trunks and branches. Effort was made to integrate the architectural language smoothly with the surrounding natural environment. The earthy façade tones, drop-off canopies, and landscape features all resonated with the rainforest theme.

Lush landscaping surrounds approximately 50 percent of the site, reflecting the green aspects of the design. More than an acre of land is thoughtfully landscaped to resemble the Amazon jungle. The swimming pool is created out of flowing water. The entire design creates a micro-ecosystem that immerses the residents in a natural, serene environment.

The project reflects Pentaspace’s commitment to creating sustainable living spaces integrating nature and architecture. By preserving the site’s natural beauty and incorporating thoughtful design elements, the residential complex offers its residents a healthy, nature-inspired environment, setting a benchmark for ecosensitive development in urban settings.
