Tidal Serenity, perched atop Mumbai’s gorgeous Cuffe Parade, is a masterful blend of architectural grandeur and the relaxing charm of the ocean. Niharika Saraf of Polka House designed this magnificent property, which embodies the appeal of coastal living and creates an inviting haven for a middle-aged couple. The property, which boasts spectacular ocean views, is a peaceful sanctuary that flawlessly blends family warmth and personal serenity.
The apartment was completely transformed, replacing a tight and uninspired layout with one that prioritises utility, comfort, and leisure. The areas are tailored to the couple’s lifestyle, encouraging both socialising and quiet reflection. The living area is the focal point of the design, with two standout features: a handcrafted swing that replicates the gentle sway of the ocean and a versatile bar unit that transforms from an attractive accent to a useful multimedia hub.
To improve privacy and functionality, the design team cleverly divided one bathroom into two compact but well-appointed areas, equipped with bathroom amenities in each bedroom. In the daughters’ room, a tall boy unit converts into a desk, providing a handsome and functional workspace for visiting family. These considerate details make the home more welcoming and versatile.
The material preference prioritises muted tones, grey marble, and light oak veneers, resulting in a relaxing and sophisticated atmosphere. Neutral fabrics and PU-finished walls provide depth and dimension, while box panelling in the living and dining areas adds subtle drama. The eating room has a bench and loose chairs to maximise space and encourage interaction among family and friends.
The master bedroom is a refuge of tranquillity, with fluted wall panelling that elegantly covers the bathroom door while keeping a clutter-free appearance. The peaceful design is complemented with subdued greys, pastels, and rich textures that provide depth and cohesiveness to the room.
Tidal Serenity is a celebration of careful design that balances usefulness and aesthetics. By reflecting the rhythm of the ocean and the demands of its inhabitants, it develops into a magnificent vacation that combines comfort and elegance.
