The Splendid Grandeur of La Casa
Vastu, opulence, natural materials Kamalroop Singh Maan, Principal Architect, KR Architecture Studio, merges the wisdom of the east with the aesthetics of the west to create the interiors of La Casa.
The splendid grandeur of this four-storeyed residence was the outcome of the exquisite requirements of the client, who is himself a real estate developer. Since the client aspired for a home filled with soothing luxury, serene design features, and calming comforts, this project’s scope provided the right wavelength for the architects to express their design language. Pushing the boundaries to accentuate aesthetics, the perfect blend of interiors was created with an adequate amount of minimalism fused with the love for pastel calm.
The 12000 sq. ft. home is spread across the basement, ground, first, and the second floor amid the serene valleys of Bhopal. Elevated to a 6ft 6 inches height to match the plinth level, the house adorns a beautifully landscaped lawn sprinkled with green plantations and charming outdoor accessories with an elaborated space to park eight cars. The outdoors of the house is designed as an envelope for the interiors. The most striking feature is the small water body with floating flowers and a gazebo.
The house is oriented north-south, and each segment is designed to embrace the sun entering it through the permeable layers of green buffers. The planning of the residence is done keeping the fundamentals of Vastu shastra in mind. As you step inside, you enter the inner double-height living room illuminated by a skylight. It ensures ample light in every corner of the house while filtering the heat out through the green buffers.
The house is fabricated from the entrance to the top-most floor in layers of public, semi-public, and private zones designed to highlight the volume distinctly. A careful selection of color scheme and curation of furniture, textile, and decor pieces, along with the intersection with greens at different levels, bring the most exquisite final touches.
The second floor of the residence has touches of opulence and sophistication that showcase the team’s planning and execution. Fully dedicated to leisure, the entertainment and recreational areas provide one with ideas to design one’s own spaces to play, work out, meditate in the huge terrace with a view of beautiful valleys and enjoy an evening of big-screen experience with family and friends. The floor is also equipped with a secondary kitchen to serve parties and gatherings. While these spaces are meant to serve a practical purpose, the design sets new benchmarks in ensuring a jovial vibe that impresses and amazes the onlookers.
An assortment of natural accent materials such as wood, stone, and jaali adds character to the spaces. Exotic finishes of gold, copper, rose gold add hints of chic and minimalism.
The sofas with leather upholstery capture warmth and style in the guest bedroom, while wooden chairs add an exotic touch. The television above the console, encased in marble paneling, forms an elegant backdrop. The dining area complements the grey upholstered chairs and the graceful table.
With a total of 7 bedrooms enveloped in a distinctive concept and a minimal theme to bring out the personality of its owner with etching details. The master bedroom impresses with graceful gold leaf details, paneled wall customized cushions with embroidery, etc. The terrace garden on the top sets new standards for glamour with the drama, confidence, and boldness it unleashes.
For the Mandir, Gayatri Mantra adorns the wall in exposed concrete letters. This feature is visible for everyone to channel the positive energy from worship to the entire house.
The Nolte kitchen on the ground floor has edgy design elements and artistic touches. A calming palette dominated by natural materials, paneled walls and wooden and marble flooring play host to elegant pieces of furniture that transcend and become pieces of art. The wooden sculpture and the clean line of furniture add drama while adding comfort at the same time.
