The biophilic office design of corporatEdge
Studio IAAD’s design for CorporatEdge not only reflects the evolution of corporate office interiors but also underscores the enduring appeal of nature’s influence on human well-being and productivity.
Corporate office interiors are evolving rapidly, mirroring the changing landscape of job roles and work dynamics. Gone are the days of sombre colour schemes and rigid seating arrangements as the corporate world embraces a new era of workspace design. Co-working spaces, in particular, present an opportunity to redefine modern corporate interiors. They cater to diverse audiences and businesses, demanding a universal appeal in functionality and aesthetics.
Studio IAAD, known for its innovative design solutions, took on the challenge of transforming the workspace for CorporatEdge in bustling Bangalore. Located in the ITC building, CorporatEdge is a renowned service suite centre in South India, standing out amidst the tech-driven cityscape of Bangalore. Covering an expansive 24,403 square feet, this co-working space was designed to cater to the needs of young professionals while maintaining the integrity of a formal workspace.
When one enters the reception area, it becomes evident that Studio IAAD’s design philosophy is centred on integrating biophilic elements into the corporate interior, infusing it with a light-heartedness and connection to nature. The reception area features a bespoke partition adorned with a lattice of birds and planter boxes, injecting a vibrant touch of green into the space. The herringbone-patterned ceramic tiled floor is juxtaposed with elegant ceiling light fixtures crafted from rice paper. Track lights provide versatile illumination, allowing for customized size and positioning.
One of the remarkable features of the office building is the safety corridor along its periphery, serving as a buffer in case of fires or other emergencies. Laminated glass protects the exterior facade, creating a seamless connection with the outdoors, all while sitting at your desk. This translucent glass shields occupants from the sun’s harsh glare while flooding the workspace with natural light.
Incorporating biophilic design elements brings a renewed connection with nature into the workspace, making it more personal and inviting. Contemporary workspace designs are in constant flux, but by embracing biophilic design principles, interior design becomes timeless, as the allure of nature is everlasting. Furthermore, the biophilic approach offers numerous ways to explore the indoor-outdoor connection, a vital consideration in an increasingly digital world.
