Temple town introduces tropical heaven home
A unique home has emerged in the charming Kerala city of Thrissur. It is a paradise for a family of five looking for a place that effortlessly combines warmth, openness, and modern aesthetics. This recently constructed residence, which spans 4500 square feet, perfectly captures the spirit of tropical modernism.
The main foyer may be reached from the quaint veranda that greets you as soon as you enter the property. The house unfolds elegantly into separate zones, each having a unique identity and yet harmonious connections between them. Playfulness is evoked at the entrance with a rustic live-edge swing that adds a whimsical touch. A long console with an iron mirror above it and tasteful seating arrangements entice you in. The walls, which are painted in various tones of beige, spring to life in the morning light that filters through the glass windows that are placed strategically above the stairs.
The living room, which is decorated with vibrant hues, greets you to the left with an airy and lively atmosphere. Here, we’ve created an eye-catching contrast with a gorgeous rattan chandelier and a modern blue sofa set against traditional millwork, both custom-made to enhance the space’s charm. An accent chair covered in luxurious black and white velvet adds a dash of glitz. Entering the dining area, one gets the impression of cold, traditional elegance. A custom cane buffet table with floral arrangements adorning it provides a subdued hint of opulence, while an eight-seater dining table with a wooden top and brass base takes centre stage. The minimalist all-wood kitchen’s simple lines and lack of extraneous embellishments exude usefulness and practicality.
Natural elements like metal, stone, wood, and marble have been carefully used throughout the house to provide both enduring quality and timeless appeal. A chic bar with custom-made brass and glass ledges and geometric-patterned tiles beneath the stairs is a striking highlight. A Chesterfield screams tropical modernism against a background of naturally woven baskets, offering a pop of personality and individuality.
The bottom floor’s main bedroom, a luxurious haven, beckons to the right. Ikat-covered cushions adorn a four-poster bed with a silk headrest, and family portraits made from palm prints provide a sentimental touch. There’s an upholstered wing headrest in the adjoining bedroom, and over it is an assortment of antique keys. A striking accent chair with Frida Kahlo patterns that steals the show adds excitement to the room. Upstairs, a straight wooden staircase takes you to the family area, where cartoons of Mario Fernandez adorn the walls, bringing joy to even the worst of days.
Four-poster beds made of wood and iron may be found in the bedroom of the oldest daughter. A deep blue chest acts as a striking focal point in this otherwise monochromatic room, paired with pieces by Mahesh, a local artist. The second daughter’s bedroom is a tropical haven with a sumptuously upholstered headboard set against kalakaarihaath wall wallpaper that envelops the space in peace.
We’ve carefully selected materials, furniture, and décor items with environmental concerns in mind, all while adhering to our sustainable design philosophy. Each piece will last a long time and have a lower carbon footprint thanks to our dedication to using locally sourced wood that is ethically created in our workshops. In this house, classic beauty and modern sensibility coexist in perfect harmony, reflecting a blend of Indian and European design.
We have welcomed the art of experimenting in this house, letting each space have its personality while also integrating it all to create a cohesive whole. As you look around, take inspiration from the constantly changing interior design concepts, intriguing artwork, and alluring antiques that give each room life. This home is a homage to light-filled, open rooms that exude natural light, and it is a testimony to the elegance of tropical modernism. It represents a harmonic blend of styles and, at its core, sustainable design, producing a cosy and welcoming retreat that the family will treasure for many years to come.
