Being unable to listen to someone, especially in an office where communication is necessary, becomes a problem. The acoustic performance of a carpet hinges on the padding or carpet used underneath it. However, carpet tiles are manufactured with a standardized backing with well resounding acoustic properties. Further, many manufacturers allow you to specify your carpet tiles with a different backing. That way, you can find a tailormade tile that would be perfect for the design you make.” Just like any other material while selecting the right carpet tile, a number of parameters to be looked at. Pallavi Pashine & Anurag, Principal Architects, Salankar Pashine & Associates point out Depending on the requirements for the project, one should look toward the certifications and classifications to determine which carpet and carpet backing would be most suitable. For instance, a classification based on the EN1307 is Class 21. This would mean that the carpet has been tested for domestic, moderate and light usage. Class 33 classification would mean that the carpet has been tested for heavy usage.
