Nadezhda George first met the owners of this property ten years ago. They are a Russian family who decided to update the 1980s–1990s house they bought close to New York and make it their permanent home. It still has a retro feel to it, but the overall aesthetic has been given a very modern twist.
Imagined in vivid, unconventional colours and their play on them, the outcome was a stunning vintage-inspired room with modern furnishings. The blending of materials and patterns, but particularly the blending of shapes: The modern designs’ shapelessness and fluidity contrast sharply with the historical furniture’s rigid lines, resulting in an eye-catching interior design. It was crucial to create a statement with vibrant wallpapers on the walls, unique and artistic furnishings, and exceptional—even provocative—artworks.
There is only one public space on the first floor, which is a set of closed rooms arranged in a circle. Two stories up: a secluded space. Each youngster has a room, and there is a separate outhouse for visitors. The Ananievs did not relocate the walls; instead, they thoroughly cleansed the “stuffing,” leaving only the doors because the designers thought they were attractive and in keeping with the idea. Brabbu, who is well-known for her powerful, intense, and naturally inspired upholstery, furniture, lighting, and accessories, contributed the MAYA ARMCHAIR to this outstanding project.
The vibrant colours and the lively composition of the current classic design come together perfectly in this saloon. The goddess of the Mayan civilization served as the inspiration for the MAYA ARMCHAIR, a piece that intensely enhances the saloon decor with its matte aged brass legs and mustard-yellow velvet. With its intense hue and flawless blend of sensual and delicate forms, this velvet accent chair is sure to spark cosy and extended discussions.
Expert lighting designs from Delightfull enhance the vintage aesthetic. With a stunning and modern interpretation of mid-century lighting design, greatly influenced by art from the 1940s to the late 1980s, the new classic lamps are brought together with the advancement of colours and materials in contemporary décor.
The Graphic Collection from this Covet House Company was selected by the designer. The proposal employed bright and highly expressive graphic lighting in multiple shapes and sizes, ranging from symbols to numbers, for both the “R” and “D” forms. The bright Las Vegas vibe served as the inspiration for the letter “D” that was added to the hallway, incorporating the city’s fast-paced rhythm into the interior design. Additionally, the “R” lends this lighting fixture a rustic charm that is both nostalgic and contemporary.
