Located in a prime residential area in Gurgaon, this 9,000 sq ft villa has been built on a 1,000 sq yard plot, blending contemporary design and natural materials to create an attractive, sophisticated living environment. The façade, designed with clean and modern aesthetics, features wooden elements and is complimented by Indian stone cladding in various colours of grey. The design is a beautiful balance between aesthetics and utility, giving the home a cohesive and strong presence in its surroundings.
The design team had significant difficulty breaking the linearity of the long façade and boundary wall. The team ingeniously resolved this by including various materials, volumes, levels, and lighting. The central entry, framed by a massive feature-louvred portal, is the focal point and breaks up the lengthy elevation. Adding a pergola produces dynamic light and shadow patterns, complemented by bougainvillaea creepers ascending the entrance, providing colour and charm.
The façade’s design uses a grey and black palette with contrasting materials that add texture and highlight the balconies’ proportions. Metal edge profiles on the slab levels create strong edges, while timber soffits add warmth to the streamlined design. The lighting strategy accentuates the building’s materials and the surrounding landscape, enhancing the architectural brilliance.
The boundary wall and gate use the same colour palette as the façade, reinforcing the coherent design. The villa’s huge garden and lengthy driveway use a range of landscaping ideas, with different levels and textures creating visual interest and depth. Raised garden beds, tiered planters, a mix of soft grassy areas, rough driveway textures, and huge trees provide a layered appearance. The driveway’s rustic concentric circles, made of grey Indian stone, put down the monotony and add to the beauty.
With a beautiful blend of modern aesthetics and natural materials, this villa provides a tranquil and stylish hideaway in the heart of a bustling metropolis like Gurgaon.
