In the era preceding the pandemic, the selection of a dining venue was often influenced by one’s mood and personal inclinations. Fast forward to today, when the world has settled into a new normal, and our perception of restaurant spaces has radically transformed. Choosing a dining space now revolves around the pursuit of comfort and an open, stimulating atmosphere, strongly emphasising connecting with nature. Numerous establishments inaugurated in the later part of 2021 and 2022 have embraced this evolving paradigm. Danza, our poolside cafe nestled in the picturesque haven of Goa, has equally embraced this forward-looking trend.
Occupying a sprawling 3500 sq. ft plot, Danza seamlessly blends old-world charm with contemporary vibrancy, creating an immersive space that reflects the changing preferences of today’s diners. The project, led by Riddhima, the founder of Danza Del Design, and her skilled team of designers, was challenged to transform a dilapidated pool with an awkward shape into a spacious and opulent oasis. The vision was to create a swimming space and craft an encircling sanctuary where guests could sip, dip, and dine in harmony.
“Izzipizzi,” the result of this visionary endeavour, invites patrons to unwind in a tropical paradise within the heart of Goa. The design language and colour palette capture the hues of a breathtaking sunset, seamlessly blending with the surrounding topography. As guests enter the cafe, they are greeted by colossal 14″ tall arches, each eloquently conveying the essential aspects of a Goan getaway – Good Times, Sunshine, and Tanlines. Mosaic birds, bamboo chandeliers, and local Goan artwork enhance the finesse of the space, creating a harmonious blend of aesthetics.
The project incorporates a well-defined zoning strategy, featuring robust arches that lead to distinct seating spaces and a versatile 90-foot pool hosting a jacuzzi. The arches, crafted from metal, stainless steel, and MS steel, stand resilient against Goa’s climate, adorned with weather-resistant ACP sheets that tell a narrative of design innovation, engineering mastery, and local artistry. Sustainability is a core tenet of the architectural venture, evident in every facet of the design, with artwork reflecting the essence of Goa’s environment.
“Izzipizzi” is a “glocal” marvel, blending global aesthetics with locally sourced elements. Riddhima’s imprint is palpable throughout the project, curating a fusion of culinary excellence and impeccable design. The commitment to authenticity is reflected in incorporating locally sourced materials and unique menu creations, such as the ‘falafel poi’ and the innovative ‘beef jacked burger.’
The project effortlessly straddles the line between upper mid-segment and opulent luxury, exuding exclusivity through careful material selection and a focus on quality in culinary offerings and venue aesthetics. From durable furniture to a photo booth capturing memories, every element of “Izzipizzi” invites visitors to embrace their tropical best.
