Inspired by contemporary Indian homes
Within the walls of this Contemporary Indian Home, tradition fits well with innovation, and every corner whispers the tale of a harmonious blend between our rich heritage and the promise of a sustainable, modern lifestyle.
Sushant Lok, Gurugram, a 3200-square-foot masterpiece, is a testament to the fusion of tradition and modernity. Completed in 2023, this turnkey interior project by Studio SAA-P India embodies the essence of Contemporary Indian Homes, blending the simplicity and ethnicity inherent in Indian design with modern elements.
Contemporary Indian homes draw inspiration from the current era’s colours, craftsmanship, and design trends. This unique style integrates local narratives, utilising timber in construction and interior design, and employs a muted neutral palette and textures for a harmonious living space.
Design details resonate with the local narrative, featuring region-specific column designs and architectural styles. Timber is employed in construction and interior design, creating a cohesive and warm atmosphere. The use of muted neutral colours, a blend of textures, intricate ornaments, varied materials, and clean lines defines the quintessential look of a contemporary Indian home. Cutting-edge machine technology, including Laser CNC, reduced the building time of teak wood pillars, showcasing a blend of traditional material with modern efficiency. Southern full-height windows strategically harness the winter sun, enhancing natural lighting and energy efficiency. PIR motion sensors in common halls improve lighting efficiency, aligning with modern sustainable practices.
Responding to the client’s preferences, the design maintains a less ornamental approach while keeping the space light and contemporary. Jali work and teakwood interiors impart an unmistakable Indian touch, creating a unique blend of tradition and modernity. The project showcases the juxtaposition of traditional elements with modern craftsmanship, technological integration, and thoughtful design considerations. This not only optimised time and cost but also highlighted the potential for luxury in interior design that remains sustainable.
Sustainability is not a mere corporate buzzword but a fundamental ethos. The project stands out for its innovative reuse of construction site waste, with approximately 95 percent creatively repurposed. This commitment demonstrates a dedication to responsible and resource-efficient design practices. Contemporary Indian homes have a delicate balance between tradition and modernity. This Sushant Lok project is a shining example of how thoughtful design, client-centric approaches, and sustainable practices can create a house and a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing home.
