Hipcouch’s Esquire House Design combines simplicity and functionality
Hipcouch’s Esquire House exemplifies intelligent, modern design, resulting in a pleasant house in urban Goregaon.
In bustling Mumbai, where space is a luxury, creating a home that combines aesthetics, functionality, and personal expression is a unique task. The Esquire House, a 1,650-square-foot flat in Goregaon designed by Hipcouch’s Parikshat Hemrajani and Ridhi Agarwal, demonstrates how smart design can transform a small place into a peaceful haven. This home was designed for a family that loves simplicity and style, and every element strikes a balance between minimalist elegance and functionality.
Walking into the Esquire House feels like entering a refuge of openness. Natural light enters the living area, pouring through sunset-hued ombre drapes that vary from deep orange to red, adding warmth to the pure white walls and ceilings. The space is grounded in neutral blue and grey tones, with details such as wicker accents on the TV unit and louvred shutters on the crockery cabinet introducing craftsmanship and natural textures.
To increase openness, the third bedroom was converted into a multipurpose extension of the living space. The area, which includes a sleek sofa-cum-bed, may serve as a guest room or a cosy den. A floor-level rocking chair adds a whimsical element, while a stepped window seat that doubles as a study desk with integrated shelving makes a utilitarian yet pleasant niche.
The open-plan kitchen’s mint green and white tones reflect this modest elegance, and it’s accented with a breakfast counter that connects to the living room. A notable element is the marble mandir, a sacred, Vastu-compliant room that has been artfully integrated into the kitchen design. Music flows effortlessly throughout the house thanks to integrated ceiling speakers and a concealed amplifier station, demonstrating Hipcouch’s commitment to lifestyle design.
The bedrooms are personalised to fit the family’s style. The “grey room,” designed for the son and daughter, has a sleek grey, black, and blue colour scheme with custom shelving for their sneaker and basketball collections. A cosy window seat with a bookshelf nook provides the ideal refuge. The master bedroom contrasts this with a soothing white and olive green colour scheme, emphasised by an olive headboard and fabric-sandwiched glass wardrobe shutters, providing a setting of peaceful sophistication.
The Esquire House stands out for its gorgeous aspects and for how they work together in harmony. Hipcouch’s design philosophy shines through in this modern, minimalist home that seems deeply personal and well-suited to the family’s lifestyle.
