In the idyllic setting of Goa, “The Laughing Tiger” by Danza Del Design is a monument to technical skill and creative delicacy. Where workmanship tells stories, every encounter becomes part of an enduring narrative of elegance and creativity.
Situated peacefully along the coast of Goa, ‘The Laughing Tiger’ is a colourful tribute to joy and freedom in design, put together by Danza Del Design founder Ridhima. Embracing a wild, carefree vibe, this Asian-funk bar invites patrons to party till the sun sets.
The striking bar and dining space greets guests upon entry and is separated into three sections. At the centre of the room is a massive 19-foot-tall bar filled with treats that redefine design notions. Asian motifs are flawlessly incorporated into every venue element, from decor to gastronomy.
The design palette bursts with colour, suggesting audacity and creating a captivating tapestry. The seating area is covered by a retractable roof, which lets guests enjoy the sun or party beneath the stars. The dramatic centrepiece is a bar front with a tiger motif lighted by a yellow backlight, perfectly complementing the opulent maroon, black, and gold colour palette.
The air is infused with an Asian flavour, and the bamboo lights overhead softly swing in a warm glow inspired by Japanese Kaizen. Painted and fitted with lights, iron rods provide a sumptuous, brassy vibe and are creatively recycled into seating panels to reduce waste. Concrete and terrazzo tables that glow in the dark provide texture and a daring design.
Sustainability is reflected in the use of low-waste design concepts and partnerships with regional artists. Artistic expertise is on display in the bar’s wall, which is covered in clay dishes inspired by Tokyo created on-site using 3D paints. These unusual stools have brass finishes and blue upholstery. The backs of the stools are decorated with coasters that show tigers sipping cocktails, a nod to Indonesian culture.
The menu design enhances the Asian funk motif with pictures of tigers and tigresses, echoing the bar’s rich blues and bright red palette. Each component captivates, creating a carefree atmosphere where every interaction becomes a lasting art piece.
