In the WFH scenario we need to create the right atmosphere to ensure we stay inspired and enthusiastic

Since the pandemic hit, social distancing has been the greatest chant and staying home the greatest virtue. ‘WFH’ or Work from Home is the new necessary trend that all of humanity is following. Sitting in the comfort of our homes and earing has been a dream that many dreamt of. But like when all dreams come true, it’s usually not as smooth as the imagination ran. The hard-hitting reality and consequences of working from home have made the work lethargic and less productive. Choosing the right place or color, adding a little “oomph” in the chosen area, comfortable sitting, a proper table, a small snack corner are some things that definitely will do the trick.

Choosing a home office space for some people is not a difficult task. They usually have a spare room at their disposal which works just as fine as an office. This is where your creativity and having fun will come into play. Unused corners, balconies, or even as simple as floor with rugs will turn out great as an office space. Establishing ‘The Place Where I Do Work’ has been incredibly important in making work and home coexist, a combination of work and storage space has to be kept in mind to be systematized and free flowing. Make sure all the paperwork, the wires, the electronics are all stored handy and accessible yet safe.

Apart from place setting another important thing is to be as free as a bird and as happy as yellow.  Keep your office space clean and uncluttered is a bliss that you’ll be thankful for. Visual clutter usually is not a first-class preference for keeping clam and being productive. So, it is advisable that in your office space, as far as the eye goes keep it organized and workable. The next thing that can be taken care of is choosing a space with great natural lighting. Damp, dark and dewy corners are a big no-no. Try to find a space that gives apt sunlight, is a little easy-breezy and breathable.

Minimalism is the mantra of millennials. Bold, popping, in-the-face colours are not something you should be adding to your office space. It should be simple yet giving. A subtle back wall, a neutral front wall, some hints of your favourite things, go ahead and add a plant, investing in a good chair that makes your posture upright and comfortable, so on so forth. There are so many ways to do it your own way. What makes you comfortable is what matters.

At the end of the day, the office space is still your “home” office space, make it warm, make it inviting. You don’t need to spend a fortune to make your office space, just do it your own way. And even after all this if you’re in a conundrum, just remember we’re all in this together.
