“Our design integrates tradition with personalised features, resulting in a home full of artistic details.” —-Studio NovoForma.

This project in Gurugram’s ultra-luxury DLF Camellias enclave combines two flats to create a coherent house. The interventions deliberately enhanced the living experience and created personal spatial narratives.

Lift lobbies, an element often disregarded, take centre stage in shaping the home’s individuality. Inspired by the Japanese genkan, these spaces serve as a ceremonial transition between city and home life.

One of the lobbies contains a unique wallpaper featuring Japanese skylines and a stone-topped console with traditional inscriptions. The other features fluted marble planters and hand-blown glass lighting. With their various forms and organic hues, these lights create an image of aquatic animals floating in mid-air. These aspects perfectly testify to craftsmanship and a sense of peaceful luxury.

The wine wall is central to the home and reflects the family’s love for travel and wine. Cut from stone; the wall features a world map with unique copper and wooden racks to line wine bottles region-wise. The sake area features a map of Japan as a backdrop, with tension-wire shelves and kanji-engraved accents elevating the place to a culturally authentic space.

The parametric bench is a utilitarian sculpture made of birch plywood and copper in front of the wine wall. The design’s organic contours were achieved through iterative development. The curves and dimensions have been carefully tuned for comfort and visual harmony. The bench, built on-site from separate components, reflects a painstaking commitment to design and construction.

The art and furnishings in the formal dining and drawing rooms reflect the family’s history. Renowned artist Paresh Maity’s personalised commissions reflect the family’s milestones and passions. Traditional rugs and sculptural furnishings accent the pieces, combining legacy and contemporary styles.

This project’s interventions are directed by close collaboration with the client, from design to execution. Every aspect, from the parametric seat to the stacked wine wall, was carefully designed to reflect the family’s individuality.
