A Portuguese-inspired residential design
“Our thoughtfully curated geometric design harmoniously combines heritage and functionality, offering comfort with natural ventilation.” —–ARA Design.
Ipsarva Athena is a villa where Portuguese architecture combines old-world elegance, local flare, and tradition to create a unique dwelling. The requirement was to create a dwelling that meets all the essential needs while dividing spaces through multiple levels.

The lower level was meant to represent common areas, while the top level was meant to represent private places. The residence is unique in its design, emphasising luxury, dependability, and connection to nature. The project is part of a 1500-square-meter property with landscaped spaces.

The proposed split-level home aligns with the natural terrain and optimises space, providing unique visual vistas. External shading devices eliminate or significantly minimise the requirement for mechanical heating and cooling to ensure thermal comfort within the building.

This design meets basic housing demands for functionality and comfort, including “cross-ventilation,” which allows air to flow freely throughout the building. The project’s unique feature is the use of geometric shapes with pockets/corners to create an offset pattern that represents balance and stability.

The design draws inspiration from Indo-Portuguese culture, including regional portrayals, demography, and materials. It is an example of a clean, visually appealing, uncomplicated style that blends perfectly with the natural surroundings.
