The Pillar House symbolises our conviction that, with imaginative design, even the most difficult architectural components can become remarkable features. It’s about combining modern innovation with classic elegance, and each element is designed to improve the space’s aesthetic appeal and usability.

Aptly dubbed ‘The Pillar House,’ Gaurav Kharkar & Associates turned an apartment in Mumbai’s Worli area into a magnificent example of modern neoclassical architecture. This project, which combines traditional elegance with contemporary flair, demonstrates how ingenious design can transform architectural problems into aesthetic successes.

The home, part of the IndiaBulls Blu complex, has stunning views of the Arabian Sea. The customers wanted a room with grandeur, elegance, and comfort because they were pleased with the firm’s prior work. To create a blank canvas, the designers took down every brick wall and rearranged the arrangement using marble partition walls to keep the space feeling open. The modern classic chandelier, the black-and-white granite marble floor, and the personalised console table in the foyer with its French-inspired décor set the mood.

The focal point of the living room, a structural pillar that presented a design quandary, was converted into an artistic focal point. The pillar became the focal point of the apartment when a local artisan painted it by hand with neoclassical motifs. The space strikes a balance between straight and curved edges, and layers of materials produce a sophisticated yet intimate environment. The room opens to a custom-designed open kitchen with lacquered doors, Italian marble counters, and an island counter with a hidden bar area.

The guest room, adjacent to the living area, serves as both a TV room and a space to hide a Murphy bed, showcasing our ability to maximise space. The son’s bedroom, designed for a young entrepreneur, features a sombre, manly colour scheme and clever storage options for his sneaker collection. The primary bedroom is a testament to our understanding of multifunctionality, with an island bed and an elevated wardrobe area finished in black-tinted glass with cane accents.

“The Pillar House” is a living testament to our design philosophy. We believe in the transformational potential of well-considered architecture. This home is not just a place to live but a piece of art, blending modern minimalism with neoclassical embellishments to create a timeless, one-of-a-kind space. We embrace problems as opportunities, turning them into innovative design solutions.
